3rd place for ROWE RACING at the FIA GT World Cup

ROWE RACING has completed its fantastic 2023 season with another podium finish in the FIA GT World Cup in Macau. BMW M works driver Augusto Farfus from Brazil drove the #11 BMW M4 GT3 to third place on the spectacular street circuit on the southern Chinese coast. After the triumph at the 24 Hours of Spa, the double victory at the opening race of the GT World Challenge Europe in Monza and second place in the overall standings of the Endurance Cup as well as second place at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the race was another highlight this year for the team from St. Ingbert. In ten starts in 2023, ROWE RACING claimed four victories and five further podium finishes.

Augusto Farfus, who won the FIA GT World Cup in 2018 and had also triumphed twice in the World Touring Car Championship on the 6.12 kilometers long Circuito da Guia, showed all his class and experience in the top-class field of drivers. In the end, "Gustl" was only beaten by Raffaele Marciello and Edoardo Mortara. Augusto Farfus had already shown a spectacular fightback in Saturday's qualifying race, moving up from eighth to fourth place.

“This is a great way to end the season. I can leave Macau, this very special and always emotional place for me, with a smile. On Saturday, I managed to get myself into fourth place, putting me in a position to compete for the podium in the Main Race on Sunday. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much space on the outside at the start and nearly had an accident. After that, I took a more cautious approach and hoped for a restart after a yellow phase. That did happen, and I was able to use it to make up a position. Sadly, Sheldon van der Linde Sheldon and Maro Engel had problems ahead of me, which, of course, was good for me and brought me to third place.”

“It’s fantastic to finish third here in the FIA GT World Cup! We knew that the task on this very special track would be a real challenge. We were very lucky to have Augusto Farfus, an outstanding driver and Macau expert, at the wheel - he delivered a great performance. But also everything else was just right - from the strategy to the technology to the team organization. That's why my praise goes to everyone who gave their all here once again after a really exhausting season on the Nordschleife and in the GT World Challenge Europe.”

Managing Director of ROWE
“After already being able to look back on an extremely successful season before the FIA GT World Cup, this third place is the crowning glory of a spectacular year for ROWE RACING! Just being able to take part in this race in Macau is an honor for any GT team. It's not without reason that only the best compete here, because this incredibly tight street circuit demands absolute concentration and a lot of courage from the drivers! The fact that we were able to achieve such a success in this top-class field makes me incredibly proud of the entire team.”
Dr. Alexandra Kohlmann
Managing Director of ROWE
“To return to the podium directly after a three year hiatus of the FIA GT World Cup at the comeback in Macau is a fantastic achievement and a great season finale. We are thrilled to achieve such a result together with a driver like Augusto Farfus and BMW M Motorsport in such a strong field. Everyone on our team can be proud to be among the absolute best. Today’s race was our best performance this weekend, and Augusto truly deserved the podium.”
